It’s miraculous to me that with enough pressure you can emboss soft fibers into the surface of gold and silver. I never tire of the thrill of that action, because it draws together the worlds I love, textiles, texture and metal.
This group of my work is about mending, the act of repairing something in order to save it. A stitch in time. We stitch the torn out knees of our jeans and place a patch over the shredded elbow of our favorite sweater. As humans, our skin is stitched when we suffer a wound. We work to mend our relationships.
