The wood dictacted this curve. I went with it. Use alone or with another, these hair sticks work.
I started carving hair sticks because I couldn't find ones I loved. I have long hair and I wear it up with one or two of these sticks every day. I see them as small pieces of sculpture, perfect tools that keep hair up and out of the way, beautifully. What makes mine work is that they are hand carved, no patterns, not perfectly cut with power tools. Each one is one of a kind. The tool I use leaves enough subtle texture to help the stick stay in place. I sand them buttery smooth so that they don't snag your hair and hand apply a light oil and wax finish.. I use whatever wood is at hand from pale birds eye maple to dark African black wood. I will post them here as I make them. The silver one was covered in pure silver leaf, a delicate surface that wears away revealing a red undercoat beneath. All are between 5-7" in length. If you would like a longer length, let me know.
