Quiet drama..words that aren't usually seen together. I cut this special hardwood by hand with a Japanese saw, in part to leave behind the beautiful saw marks on the backside. The pair in these photos has tiny 18k gold tube rivets and 18k gold ear wires. The effect of this wood is mysterious, it has a texture and feel of finely honed slate. It is very dark brown, almost black and while fairly large at 2 1/2" total height by 1 1/4" width, they are light enough to wear all day. Sculpture to wear. This earring is my favorite and it will remain rare as only a small percentage of this wood is this very dark color with an almost invisible grain.
